Traffic Control Devices Inspection Services
Maryland State Highway Administration
Brudis & Associates, Inc. is responsible for Construction Inspection services for the State Highway Administration Traffic Operations Division (TOD). The inspection services have involved traffic control devices (TCDs) and include: traffic signal installations, signing and lighting improvements, audible pedestrian signals, ADA compliance upgrades, ITS installations (DMS, CCTV, automated speed enforcement), minor geometric improvements (ADA ramps, curb and gutter, islands and medians, roadway, intersection control beacon installations, hazard identification beacons, overhead/cantilever sign structures, rumble strips, telemetry, fiber-optic interconnect systems, electrical service equipment, intersection, and interchange /roadway lighting) inspection of foundations, structures, conduit, loop detectors, electrical cables, luminaries, controller, cabinets was also involved.
BAI attended and conducted pre-construction meetings. BAI prepared construction stakeout checklist; signal project checklist, TCD turn-on/modification reports, TCD Inspectors Daily Report (IDR), and developed technical inspection reports for signals, lighting and signing. Punchlist Items included cabinet, poles, structures, overhead and underground utilities, hand boxes, detectors, luminaries, and electrical services.
CVISN Inspection Services
State Highway Administration
Brudis & Associates, Inc. is responsible for Construction Inspection services for the Maryland State Highway Administration Commercial Vehicle Identification System Network (CVISN) program. BAI is providing construction inspection services of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and CVISN equipment and technology, which has included the review of catalogue cut sheets for equipment certification.
BAI supervised the construction, installation and inspection of equipment such as conduit, fiber optic and electrical cables, tag reading antennas, infrared and surveillance cameras, pole and mast arm structures as well as technology for the weigh-in-motion scales at truck weigh stations. BAI’s construction phase services on this project also involved construction conflict coordination, review of as-built plans, and acceptance tests for ITS/traffic control devices and UPS systems.
Ultimately, BAI recommended design and system changes, promoted work zone safety practices, monitored traffic control in work zones, reported and coordinated repair efforts with local district personnel and/or the relevant vendor.
Calvert Cliffs State Park 
Maryland Department of General Services
In coordination with the Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Brudis & Associates, Inc. provided construction management services for parking lot and roadway improvements at the Calvert Cliffs State Park.
Construction Management Services on this project involved the material submittal reviews and approvals as well as shop drawing reviews and approvals, and change order reviews. BAI conducted bi-weekly progress meetings and construction site visits to ensure the project was being completed in accordance with plans and specifications. Ultimately, BAI would review material testing results in order to track project issues and document the resolution of any issues.
