MD 180 Drainage Improvements

Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) provided professional water resources engineering design services to support approximately 1 mile of roadway improvements along MD 180 from the I-70 overpass to south of Solarex Court. The project is located in a densely populated urban area just south of the City of Frederick. The project goals included addressing vehicular congestion and alleviate traffic impacts due to the forecasted development in the area. The improvements included a new bridge along eastbound MD 180 over US 15/US 340 (adjacent to the existing bridge), widening the existing roadway to a 4-lane highway with auxiliary lanes, ADA compliance, bicycle compatibly, storm drain upgrades, and intersection improvements. BAI was responsible for all drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management design and permitting associated with the roadway improvements. BAI’s design and management responsibilities for this project with an estimated total construction cost of $13.5 million included.
