Rogues Harbor Boating Facility

Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) prepared complete construction plans, specifications and cost estimates for the design of replacement of the damaged catwalk and piers at the Rogues Harbor Boat Ramp Facility at Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County, Maryland. The project was completed in coordination with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Maryland Department of General Services (DGS).

The existing 60′ x 70′ boat ramp and two 4′ wide wooden catwalk piers, which were supported on timber piles and anchored to a sloped concrete launch pad, were damaged during Hurricane Isabel.

Initially BAI provided an examination of the entire catwalk and piers to determine the extent of the repairs/replacement. The design included dewatering practices involving sandbag diversion walls and pumping, site demolition of portions of the existing wooden piers and decking, and new catwalk and deck construction. In addition portions of the catwalk were fastened to the existing concrete ramp slab, with concrete/bolt connections for additional support.
