Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) provided construction management services in coordination with the Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) for the replacement of the existing floating dock and pier with a new floatable concrete dock, breakwater repairs at the boat launch area and timber pier and piling installations; as well as expansion of the facility’s asphalt paved parking lot to accommodate additional boaters and ADA accessible parking.
Construction management services included: material submittal reviews/ approvals, shop drawing reviews/approvals, responses to contractor RFI’s, scheduled contract payment reviews, bi-weekly progress meetings, meeting minutes, bi-weekly construction site visits to ensure work was being performed to plans and specifications, material testing result reviews for tracking project issues, documented the resolution of project issues, and wrote/reviewed change orders.
Parking Lot Expansion. The existing parking lot was insufficient to accommodate parking on high usage days and the existing floating dock and services the boat launches was in poor condition and needed to be replaced. BAI provided complete construction plans, specifications and estimates for a new asphalt pavement parking expansion between the west side of the existing asphalt lot and the abandoned railroad bed to include additional trailer and car spaces. Project involved ADA compliant parking, pavement striping, lighting, tidal wetlands, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, critical areas, and guardrail/bollards for public safety.
