Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) provided complete multi-disciplined engineering services for the replacement of the Warfieldsburg Road Bridge over Little Morgan Run, located in Carroll County. The project consisted of the development of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the removal of the existing steel beam and concrete bridge and replacement of a precast concrete box culvert 12’ wide x 5’ in height, in accordance with AASHTO design criteria.
The design included concrete footings, headwalls and wing walls, grading, placing aggregate base, asphalt roadway paving, maintenance of traffic, erosion and sediment control, installing traffic barrier, stabilizing disturbed areas and maintaining stream flow during construction.
BAI’s design also involved a detailed bridge condition inspection report and an alternative structural repair/replacement analysis. BAI also prepared detailed hydraulic/hydrology computations and report for the hydraulically-in-kind structure replacement and waterway permitting. Geotechnical investigations and wetland delineation/mitigation were also required for the project.
BAI also provided construction phase services including review and approval of shop drawings, clarification of contractor’s requests, approval of material substitutions, and in-field contractor meetings.
